Amazonia Tropical Fish LLC is a Philadelphia-based specialist in premium freshwater aquarium fish. We hand-pick, condition, and ship live tropical fish across the United States and Puerto Rico. Founded by Arek Szura, the business has spent over a decade serving aquarists who want fish that arrive healthy, look like the photos, and live for years — not fish that look one way in the store and another way at home.
What We Specialize In
Our focus is on species and strains that big-box pet stores don’t carry, or carry poorly. Every fish we ship has been conditioned in our Philadelphia facility, observed for at least one to two weeks (longer for wild imports), and treated for the parasites and stress that come with transit from breeders or collection sites.
- Line-bred angelfish: Premium Koi (Red Devil), Orange Marble, Black Splash, Philippine Blue, Blue Marble — stabilized strains with predictable adult color, not pet-store juveniles of uncertain quality.
- Wild-caught angelfish: Santa Isabel, São Gabriel, Rio Iniridae, Manacapuru — locality forms imported from Brazil and Colombia, conditioned in blackwater before they leave.
- Wild discus: Rio Nanay, Heckel, Royal, Marimari, Brown discus — high-end specimens for serious keepers.
- Dwarf cichlids: Apistogramma cacatuoides, Ivanacara adoketa (Zebra Acara), Albino Threadfin Acara, ram cichlids.
- Rare corydoras: Corydoras eques (Osteogaster eques), CW111 Vulcan, CW107, sterbai, schwartzi, and other niche species.
- Tetras & community fish: Cardinal tetras and other South American species suitable as tankmates for our cichlids.
- Premium fish food: Discus Hobby and similar professional-grade nutrition.
How We Ship
Every order leaves our Philadelphia facility Monday through Wednesday on overnight services:
- FedEx Priority Overnight — direct to your door, signature required.
- UPS Next Day Air — same overnight delivery via UPS.
- Southwest Cargo — airport-to-airport for larger shipments and select metros.
Fish are bagged with oxygen, packed in insulated styrofoam boxes with a heat or cold pack appropriate to the season, and tracked from pickup to delivery. We do not ship Thursday or Friday because weekend transit kills fish.

Documentation requirement is simple: dated photos of the deceased fish in the original shipping bag within 2 hours of delivery. That’s it. No water tests, no necropsy reports, no shipping gymnastics.

Free shipping on orders $350 and up across the continental United States. Some exclusions apply (Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and orders containing certain Discus species).
